Heads or ……….

” So what’s it going to be, heads or tails? “

Mid 20th Century Casino Neon Light
We are proud to offer an original mid-20th Century neon sign recently uncovered from a Casino cellar in Southend (UK). This item reads TAILS, so we can only assume it was at some point accompanied with the sign HEADS. The neon is true to its age and still enclosed in its original metal section box. Neon lights from this era were yellow when switched off due to their chemical make-up. The original background of this light seems to have faded over time leaving a mirrored bleeding effect over a light blue painted surface as shown in the photos provided. The box this item is enclosed in also contains its original transformer which operates on a pulley switch to be turned on and off. A long 3 metre cord is wired up and ready to be used as shown in the photos provided. A complete original neon and in overall good condition for its age.

Dimensions in inches: H 10” x W 26” x D 6.5”

Origin: English

Material: Neon Glass and metal frame

Item Condition

This item is completely solid in structure and form, aged patina with weathering has taken place across all the surfaces. The metal box/frame shows wear in the form of loss of paint, scratches and is missing its back section (not sure this was ever present, as this was a mounted item). The Perspex cover is also scuffed and scratched in areas, the neon light items self is intact true to the 1950s date in solid yellow when turned off and bright red/pink when turned on. The backing section as shown could have once been a solid blue but has weathered over time and left a highly decorative effect as shown also in the photos provided. What Our Customers Say

It was a pleasure to work with the House of Antiques on a recent project at the London Dungeon.

I was after antiques and oddities of a macabre, arcane nature and Harry’s stand-out selection – from human bones in glass jars to contorted wax heads – was exactly what I had in mind but couldn’t seem to find anywhere else. Harry himself made the whole process extremely personal and is really invested in each item he has collected, ensuring not only it is right for the project being undertook, but that the products are shipped safely and delivered on time.

I would not hesitate to recommend the House of Antiques to anyone, thanks for a straight-forward (and v cool) experience!
