This item was presented to Fanny by one of her admires we have been told through a family connection from whom this item was recently uncovered. With lovely, detailed carving on the lid showing a ballerina like figure positioned between pillars and with her name either side.
We are proud to offer a unique 19th Century hand carved horn snuff box by repute owned by Francesca “Fanny” Cerrito (11 May 1817 – 6 May 1909) Fanny was an Italian ballet dancer and choreographer. She was a ballerina noted for the brilliance, strength, and vivacity of her dancing. She was also one of few women in the 19th century to be recognized for her talent as a choreographer. Born in Naples, she studied under Carlo Blasis and the French choreographers Jules Perrot and Arthur Saint-Léon, the latter of whom was her husband from 1845–51. Fanny Cerrito was trained in the ballet school of San Carlo Opera House, later under the supervision of Salvatore Taglioni. Her first stage appearance was in 1832 when she gained recognition almost immediately. In 1836–37 her fame started to spread beyond Italy, and she appeared in Vienna to reveal some of her own choreographed works.

Cancellation / Refunds
We are unable to refund any item which is purchased unless the item is different from what is described in the advert stated. We do no refund our customers if they choose to change their mind about the purchase unfortunately, we will however offer a full refund of the item (excluding postage) if the item once received is not as described, this however can only take place within 48hr of the item being received by the customer.
