The robber

We have never seen the like and are unlikely to do so again, a real museum object and work of art in our humble opinion. Without doubt this really is a special thing as we are sure you will agree.

Description

Quite simply this is one of our favourite items. A hand carved polychrome painted Paris/French theatre fragment in the form of what resembles a robber. This important artifact was uncovered in a private collection in Belgium earlier this month from a world-renowned collector.  The reverse of the carved figure has some form of support bracket in place, which leads us to believe this item would have been placed on a pole or attached to a support beam of sorts at some point in its life. This figure is section carved from wood, the stick is removable, and we believe he would have been holding another item in his right hand at some point maybe a bag of money (which has been lost over time). A brilliant thing……

Size of inches approx.: H 20” x W 10” x D 11”
