Arm & Hammer
One thing is for sure, you won’t find another similar pair.
A unique matched pair of metal mid-20th century Arm and Hammer factory trade sign lights.
These would have originally been placed outside the main factory gates of the Arm and Hammer factory in the USA. They are big and quirky, a real statement piece of lighting. With opaline glass shades in place and recently rewired to a UK 240v power output.
History: 1840s. It was the start of something bigger than either of them knew, but in 1846 brothers-in-law Dr. Austin Church and John Dwight began preparing bicarbonate of soda for commercial distribution. They proudly packaged this simple, yet versatile product by hand into paper bags in their first factory in the USA.
Size in inches: H 30” x W 25” x D 9”
Period: Mid-20th Century

Completely solid in structure and form, Natural patination across all the painted surface with some loss to detail as shown. The bakerite light holders are attached with a rubbery material to keep them in place. The fittings to the rear of the arms would go straight into 2 support screws on a wall (quite simple).
