A fascinating collection of 1940-1960s items relating to the telepathic magic act ‘Bernard and Miss Radar’, a mind reading husband and wife duo, who extensively toured British theatres performing their telepathy based act and who were apparently the recipients of the ‘World Convention of Magicians Award’, which they received at the Magic Circle Convention in London in 1955.
Description
We are proud to offer a unique collection of one of London’s most unquestionably entertaining magicians known as Bernard and Ms Radar. A fascinating collection of 1940-1960s items relating to the telepathic magic act ‘Bernard and Miss Radar’, a mind reading husband and wife duo, who extensively toured British theatres performing their telepathy based act and who were apparently the recipients of the ‘World Convention of Magicians Award’, which they received at the Magic Circle Convention in London in 1955. The collection comprises the basis for their act; 2 large handmade jigsaw puzzles, a “Radar” hat, top hat and other associated items with which they performed. There is also a large quantity (over 1000) of publicity photographs, theatre contracts, Magic Circle programmes, scrapbooks and other ephemera relating to their career, plus approximately fifteen original 1940s and 1950s theatre and other posters and several hand bills and flyers, all including Bernard and Miss Radar on the billing, along with other variety acts of the period. Some of the theatre posters included are; The Hippodrome, Eastbourne, Arcadia Theatre, Skegness, Commodore, Ryde, The Knightstone, Weston-Super-Mare and The Palace Theatre, Reading, which now all been framed to preserve them for display.

Over 1000 artifacts – most not pictured due to volume of items. Postage cost is high due to the weight (30kg) and volume of items in this lot, posters are NOT mounted as shown, 1 full box of archived material, top hat box, Ms Radar Box with materials, loads of props, puzzle boards and extras.
Item Condition
Aged through wear and tear is present across all the item, some fading across the posters however they are not torn or damp. Some of the hand painted items also show aged wear and light discolouration. Please take note that these items are over 70 years old and would have been used as part of this magician’s act, therefore its safe to say these items all show age, however, are very well preserved. Please review all the photos and propose questions were unsure of the condition to avoid any disappointment.
Postage

Global shipping is possible so please view all shipping details as explained. With items of this fragile and rare nature we always recommend recorded/tracked postage with adequate insurance cover. This may cost a bit more, but at least you are covered from accidents that may take place whilst in transit.

Shipping
We aim to ship your purchased item in 2 to 3 working days. The item is packed well and shipped via Parcelforce or Royal mail. Additional to this we used a few carefully selected couriers in the UK to deliver our most fragile or larger item. The courier option is applied at the buyer’s cost, so please get in touch with us directly for further information.
Cancellation / Refunds
We are unable to refund any item which is purchased unless the item is different from what is described in the advert stated. We go to a lot of effect to ensure our customers are happy with their items and purchases. Therefore, we strongly suggest the customer consider the purchase/view all pictures and close ups and propose as many questions via email before a purchase is made. We do no refund our customers if they choose to change their mind about the purchase unfortunately, we will however offer a full refund of the item (excluding postage) if the item once received is not as described, this however can only take place within 48hr of the item being received by the customer. Once an item has been received and if a cancellation has been agreed by The House of Antiques management team, the customer is liable for the cost and insurance of postage if the item needs to be sent back to us in London.

What Our Customers Say
When asked, the seller, Harry, provided another picture of this charming object next to something small (a pear) so I could better visualize the scale. He was gracious and warm throughout our brief correspondence. While it was too late to get the train here by Christmas day, with an added challenge of a strike in England and foul weather here, I was stunned when he found a way to get it to me TWO DAYS before Christmas! It must have traveled on the Hogwart’s Express!
